Adding a Printer

UoWPrint will allow you to use AirPrint/Mopria not only with USB printers, but also with older generation network printers.

Installing the printer consists of the following steps:

  1. Selecting an interface (backend) for communication with the printer
  2. Selecting a printer driver

For some printers, there are several drivers that differ slightly from each other. Drivers can use different printer languages (PDL) in cases where the printer supports several.

There is no need to configure scanners; they are detected automatically, including as part of an MFP.

Printing

Printing from Android, iOS, macOS, Linux

To print from devices running Android, iOS, macOS and Linux, no additional steps are required: the printer will be found automatically during printing.

On some Android devices, when using the UoWPrint Wi-Fi hotspot (when the device is not added to an existing network, but distributes its own), you must turn off the mobile Internet, otherwise the printer will not be found.

Do not manually install the printer on macOS and Linux! This will result in compatibility issues, inability to select printer options, and slow printing. Select an automatically detected printer when printing, but do not add it to the system as you would add a USB printer.

Printing from Windows 10 / Windows 11

Requires Windows 10 build 1809 (October 2018 Update) or later.

  1. Open Settings → Printers and scanners → Add a printer or scanner
  2. Select the found printer → add device
